ClickTale

Data analytics Desktop App

Overview

Clicktale is a SaaS, cloud-based analytics system that allows customers to visualize their visitor's experience on their website. Clicktale has tools like heatmaps, funnels, form analytics, visitor recordings and the Experience studio, a querying tool, to help understand visitor behavior.

Pageset

Organizing information and visualizing the value

Our page set, a form of a highly customizable product dashboard (including product insights, KPI’s and
relevant actions),
was very hard to read.

The first step we took was to re-design the page, to better organize the information and improve the user’s orientation.

Visit flow improvements

We then focused on an important widget which user interviews showed was hard to understand. We created a comprehensive infographic to clarify the message.

Query Builder

Condensing complex information into small and easy to read graphics

In addition to creating the massive and powerful feature which allows users to query the big data collected, we wanted to add an easy to understand, summarized version (“mini-map”) of the queries to help the user “follow along” with their results.

Funnels

Visualizing the trends above the details

The current funnel, showing traffic and drop off information, was very informative but was missing the visualization of the information trends. I proposed an alternative approach which highlighted the information trends, allowing the user to understand the general idea before diving into the specific details.

Filter composer

The filter composer is a feature in which the user adds, edits or removes filters to the page in order to look at the data from different angles. The filters "live" in the filter bar - a bar which is cross system and from this bar the user can create or edit the filters as well as understand in a glance the complexity of the filters he just applied, all that - in a very small area.

ClickTale Player

Answering users’ needs with inline indications

The “Player” is one of the fundamental tools of the product.

User interviews revealed a few pain points we wanted to address:

  1. customers wanted to easily identify “friction” in their user’s visit, directly in the player.

  2. The player was too large and overbearing on the page

Phase 1

we reduced the size of the player to a bare minimum (with an additional level of minimization when scrolling). We

also moved the player to the bottom of the page to maximize the viewing area.

Phase 2

We addressed the need to monitor, identify and categorize important events (high friction) in the recording. We added an easily accessible list of events and marked those events directly on the player timeline.
